AMENDMENTS TO THE BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I
Name

The name of the corporation shall be Sweet Vibrations Motorcycle Club of Atlanta, GA. Which in these
by laws may be referred to as SV.


ARTICLE II
Mission Statement

We are a motorcycle riding club for women grounded within a framework of sisterhood.  We are
committed to safety, continued education of the sport of motorcycling, and full enjoyment of the
motorcycling experience.  We believe both in safety of the individual and the collective group and are
dedicated to sharing our knowledge about all aspects of motorcycle riding.


ARTICLE III
Membership

Section III:I  Full Membership

A.      MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

Full membership is open to any woman who meets all state requirements to properly license, own and
operate a motorcycle, maintain compliance with the state’s financial responsibility and laws regarding the
carrying of proper insurance and has successfully completed a Motorcycle Safety Foundation approved
rider course.  If you have not completed a MSF Course, we will assist you in finding a course near you.  
Membership applications are only be accepted March through August.  Full Prospects who join in August
may complete their probation period during the first three riding months of the following year. New
members must be sponsored by a current SV member in good standing.  Support members must be
sponsored by a full member or full member prospect. Support member prospects who provide vehicle
support, must also meet all state requirements to properly license, own and operate a motor vehicle,
maintain compliance with the state’s financial responsibility and laws regarding the carrying of proper
insurance.  All new member prospect periods begin on the date of application and will last for six
consecutive months.  Because we are committed to safety and continued education of the sport of
motorcycling, there are few prerequisites to all memberships. All prerequisites must be completed with
the prospect period.

Full membership cannot be obtained until all of the following criteria are met:

1. Obtain sponsorship from a full member in good standing.
2. Complete a SV membership application and pay the initial membership fee.
(membership fees are due at the time the membership application is submitted and are non refundable.)
3. Attend a minimum of four SV meetings and participate in a minimum of four SV rides.
4 .Attend a SV Safety Practice.
5. Pledge to uphold the SV By-Laws.

B.      Until full membership is obtained, full member prospects are not eligible to vote, obtain or wear
colors.  After completion of the probationary period, full members will be voted in as full members by a
majority vote of full members in good standing.

Section III:II  Support Membership
A.    Support membership is open to any woman who supports the Mission and Purpose of SV, but does
not ride a motorcycle. Support members enjoy the same privileges as full members upon completion of
the following criteria:
1. Obtain sponsorship from a full member or full member prospect in good standing.
2. Complete a SV membership application and pay the initial membership fee.
(membership fees are due at the time the membership application is submitted and are non refundable.)
3. Attend a minimum of four SV meetings and participate in a minimum of four SV rides or events.
4 .Attend a SV Safety Practice.
5. Pledge to uphold the SV By-Laws.

B.  Until full support membership is obtained, support member prospects are not eligible to vote, obtain  
or wear colors.  After completion of the probationary period, full support members will be voted in as
full members by a majority vote of full members in good standing.  Any support member who later
obtains a motorcycle,  must successfully completed a Motorcycle Safety Foundation approved rider
course, meet all state requirements to properly license, own and operate a motorcycle and maintain
compliance with the state’s financial responsibility and laws regarding the carrying of proper insurance.
They must also participate in two SV rides.  They will then be upgraded to full membership.

Section III:III  Membership Dues
Initial membership dues are due upon receipt of the membership application.  Dues may be adjusted at
anytime by a majority vote of the board.  All dues are non-refundable.
A.  Full Membership Dues will be set at $50.  
B. Two riders joining as a couple will be set at $90 for the couple.
C. Support Membership Dues will be set at $40.  
D.  Annual renewal dues for all members will be set at $30 and will due each year on April 1st. Members
who initiate membership between Mar 1st and March 31st will not incur renewal fees until the following
year.

Section III:IV  Suspension and Termination of Membership

1)   Members who are found in violation of the By Laws are subject to penalties and may be expelled
from the club by a majority vote by the membership in attendance.
2)   Typical examples of membership violations include, but are not limited to:
a)   Non payment of dues or incidental fees
b)   Extremely rude, offensive or insulting behavior towards fellow members or others while involved in
club activities or when wearing club colors.
c)   Physical fighting.
d)   Participating in a ride while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
e)   Desecration of club colors.
f)   Unsafe riding practices at any time.

3)   In cases of serious violations affecting the well being and safety of others or the reputation of the
club as a whole, members may be barred from a number of club events and/or meetings or club
membership may be terminated permanently.


ARTICLE IV
OFFICERS and BOARD of DIRECTORS

Section IV:I  Club Officers and Board of Directors
A. The club shall be administered by the following officers who
shall collectively function as the Executive Board: President, Vice
President, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms, and any Past-President.

B. Event Officers are non-Executive Board officers charged with enforcing conduct as
set forth in the club bylaws. There are two types of Event Officers:

1) AMA Representative
2) Road Captain
3) Event Coordinator

Section IV:II Officer Term in office
All officers, starting at the inception of the club and those appointed afterwards, shall serve through April
2008. Beginning May 1, 2008 and all subsequent years, a one year term shall be served by all officers.  
Officers may re-elected for consecutive terms.  

Section IV:III Officer Minimum Qualifications
A. All officers must be members as described in Article 3 of these Bylaws.
B. Executive Board members must be licensed motorcycle owners and operators.
C. Road Captains must have taken part in a group riding program that covers the  
planning, procedures, signals and other relevant factors for a group riding activity.
D. Event Coordinators must be capable of seeing the given event though completion.


ARTICLE V
DUTIES of OFFICERS

Section V:I  Duties of the President:
A.  Preside over club meetings, functions and activities not being led by an Event Officer.
B.  See to the enforcement of the objectives and purpose of this organization.
C.  Coordinate, direct, and manage the business functions and activities of the club as
required to ensure continuity and success of club and the club objectives.
D. Votes only when one vote is needed to break a tie or at the election of officers and        
membership votes.
E. The President shall inform the Vice President when the President is unable to preside  
over any club meeting, function or activity.

Section V:II Duties of the Vice President:
A. To perform the duties of the President in case of absence or inability of the latter.
B. Serve as the Activities Coordinator in scheduling, planning, and ensuring proper
arrangements are made for all club-sponsored activities and events.
C. As necessary performs other duties which may be assigned by the President.

Section V:III Duties of the Secretary
A. Record the minutes of membership meetings and take attendance
B. Distribute of minutes within 3 calendar days via e-mail
C. Receive approval of previous month minutes at next regularly scheduled meeting
D. Maintain a completed file of Club correspondence
E.  Issue election ballots
F.  Provide other administrative support required by the Club
G. Assist the treasurer with Private Organization duties
H. Take attendance at each meeting, and ensure organizational records are compiled,
maintained, and transferred to his/her successor.

Section V:IV Duties of the Treasurer:
A. Maintain an up-to-date membership list available up request by any member of the
Executive Board.
B. Coordinate reimbursement expenditures through the Executive Board .
C. Receive, record, and report all monies or property donated to, paid to, or owned by the club.
D. Maintain an account of all receipts and disbursements so that a statement of the financial condition of
the club is available upon request by the officers or general membership.
E. Prepare an end-of-semester report for the Board of Directors to be shared at the first meeting of
following semester.

Section V:V Duties of the Sergeant at Arms:
A.  Ensure that the By-Laws and Standing Rules of the Club are not violated
B.  Ensure Executive Committee orders are carried out in an expeditious manner
C.  Maintain order at all Club events, except as noted under Duties of the President
D.  Ensure proper decorum and courtesy are observed during all Club meetings
E.  Act as custodian of temporary and Club-owned property.

Section V:VI Duties of the AMA Representative
A. Go to all district AMA meetings.
B. Report back to the club the happenings of the meeting.
C. Go to the annual risk management meetings.
D. Bring up any concerns the club might have and submit them to the district.

Section V:VII  Duties of the Road Captain
A. Plans riding events.
B. Conducts rides by informing the membership of the route and rules of an event.
C. Keeps the group together and cares for the welfare of the participants.
D. Has full authority during club rides.

Section V:VIII Duties of the Event Coordinator
Organizes and leads events not centered around riding.



ARTICLE VI
NOMINATIONS of OFFICERS

A. Only Full Members in good standing may be nominated and hold office and no person
may be a candidate in a Club election who has not been nominated.
B. A nominee for President shall have held a position on the Board for at least one year   
within the previous two years prior to the nomination.



ARTICLE VII
Financial Reporting

SECTION VII:I
All Sweet Vibrations Motorcycle Club monies will be deposited in a non-interest bearing bank account
under the club name.  If a two-signature check is used, one of those signatures must be either the
President’s or the Treasurer’s name. The Treasurer is authorized to receive donations, pay club
expenses, or handle financial matters in any manner within the confines of the By-laws.

SECTION VII:II
An oral or written financial report detailing the fiscal status of the club shall be made available to the
membership at least once every quarter.  An annual report shall be submitted to the Board at year’s end.

SECTION VII:III
The Executive Board must approve all donations made to The Club, or made in the name of The Club.

SECTION VII:IV
No member of Sweet Vibrations can obligate or encumber the club to any indebtedness.

SECTION VII:V
Salaries - There shall be no salaries for the officers of this corporation.



ARTICLE VIII
CLUB MEETINGS

A. General membership meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month.
B. Executive Board meets 2nd Sundays of each month.


ARTICLE IX
CLUB AFFILIATIONS

A. This club is non-political in nature and shall affiliate with no organization other than  
the American Motorcycle Association without the unanimous written approval of the standing SV Board.
B. Officers of this club shall not hold office in any other national motorcycle      
organization.  
C. A.  Effective May 1, 2010, no Member of Sweet Vibrations, M.C. may hold a dual membership with any
other motorcycle club.  Current members of other clubs may not be considered for SV membership until
full resignation from their current club has been fulfilled.  SV members who wish to join another club must
first resign from SV by submitting a letter of resignation and returning all Sweet Vibrations M.C. material
(ex. Patches, T-shirts, rockers, etc.) prior to joining another motorcycle club.  This bylaw does not apply
to Motorcycle Associations or motorcycle safety organizations.  This bylaw excludes any SV full member
who is a member of another club prior to May 1, 2010.   However, all SV Members are expected to wear
SV colors whenever attending an SV sanctioned event, meeting or ride.


ARTICLE X
GRIEVANCES

A. All Grievances will be settled by the board and all involved will be advised of the
decision..
B. The members involved have the right to appeal the decision to the membership for a   
final resolution.


ARTICLE XI
CLUB RIDES

Section XI:I Club Rides
SV does not assume responsibility for any aspect of a member’s, support member’s or guest rider’s
safety.  Participation in any SV event, is voluntary and is done so at each person’s personal assessment
of their own ability, the route, facilities and conditions.  Each member, support member or guest rider
must agree to assume all risk; and release and hold SV, it’s members and officers, harmless for any
injury or loss to person or property which may result there from.  

A.   Members will fully comply with and strictly adhere to all riding instructions and safety procedures.
B.   SV reserves the right to refuse participation in any SV event to any member or guest if their riding
style and/or behavior, motorcycle and/or equipment constitutes a safety hazard. This includes riding
under the influence of alcohol, drugs, legal or otherwise.
C.  Any safety concerns are to be brought to the attention of the Sergeant of Arms and Road Captain
immediately.


Section XI:II  Guest Invitations to Club Rides
A.  Any club member or prospect in good standing may invite other riders as guest to participate in club
rides.
B.  It is the responsibility of the inviting member to introduce the invited guest to all club members in
attendance prior to the ride.
C.  Inviting members must be aware that guest may not be familiar with the difference in riding style that
group rides require. In the interest of safety, first time guest must be kept at the rear of the formation
along with the inviting member where the safety of the rest of the group is not jeopardized.
D.  All guests will be required to sign a waiver of liability.  


ARTICLE XII
ROAD RULES

A.. Each member, guest operator, and all buddy riders must wear adequate protective clothing which is
defined as a safety helmet (even in abate states), a leather jacket (except when hot weather makes that
unfeasible), long pants, leather boots at least beyond the ankles. In addition, each operator must wear
protective eye covering or have a windshield on his vehicle and must comply with any state regulation
regarding such.
B.  Prior to each ride or run and prior to each segment of any ride or run, all operators will check their
motorcycles for safe operation and have their gas tanks full.
C. On all club rides and runs all operators shall follow the instructions of the road captain and will stay in
his assigned position in the formation as directed by the road captain.
D. The road captain shall maintain speeds consistent with legal limits, traffic, road, and weather
conditions.
E. Two motorcycles may not travel beside each other in the same lane nor may one motorcycle pass
another or any vehicle in the same lane.
F. Under no circumstances shall the road captain lead the formation between adjacent traffic lanes
(even where state law permits) or expose those following him to injury, arrest, or both.
G. Only those motorcycles having sufficient power to maintain the maximum legal speed on a level
highway as well as uphill when carrying an operator and/or luggage and/or a buddy rider will be
permitted on any club ride or run. Operators are not to lag behind in their assigned position in any
formation.
H. If any formation gets too large in the opinion of the road captain so as to present a hazard to passing
vehicles or the safe conduct of the formation or state law, the road captain may divide the formation
and appoint a lieutenant to head each division. Each lieutenant shall be regarded by those following
her as having the power of the road captain.
I.  Any motorcycle having a 400cc or less engine will not be permitted to carry a buddy rider on any club
ride or run.



ARTICLE XIII
CLUB COMMUNICATIONS

All forms of communication representing SV, including any form of the SV logo of  are the exclusive
property of SV and can not be used without the express written consent of a SV officer.  



ARTICLE XIV
AMENDMENTS TO THE BY-LAWS

A. Any proposed amendment must be submitted in writing to the board.

B. Upon the majority vote by the board, any proposed amendment must be read out loud
at the next club meeting. Subsequent to this meeting, it must be printed and distributed     
to the membership in two consecutive monthly meetings and/or sent by mail as well as    
read to the membership for two consecutive meetings before being presented to the
club for vote.

C. Its acceptance must be proposed by a motion duly made and seconded.

D. The affirmative vote of the majority of all members in good standing shall be required to pass an
amendment to these By-Laws.

E.  Unless otherwise specified in the motion or the amendment, the amendment shall become effective
immediately upon its passage.
